Just a Minute Blunt Nose 6 Gill shark

Can you guess what makes the bluntnose sixgill shark so unique?
Let’s start with the obvious…

Unlike most sharks, which have five gill slits—this deep-sea dweller has six.
Hence the name.
But that’s just the beginning.
Take a closer look at those teeth—
Six saw-like blades on each side of the lower jaw…
and long, fang-like ones above.
A prehistoric smile, if there ever was one.
And that’s no exaggeration.

This species has been around for over 200 million years.
It belongs to one of the oldest shark lineages still swimming today.
In many ways… it’s a living fossil.
So… is it dangerous to humans?
Not really.
According to the International Shark Attack File,
there’s only been one documented provoked attack involving this species—
and none that were unprovoked.
In the presence of divers, it seems… unbothered.
Almost chill.
